4 Interior Design Trends That Never Need to Make a Comeback

As the saying goes “trends come and go, but style is eternal.” However, this doesn’t mean that everything is stylish – some fads should be left behind in the past. Continue reading to learn about four interior design trends that we feel never need to make a comeback, anytime soon or in the distant future!

1. Light Pastels

Pastels might seem like a timeless choice, but if the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that extended periods spent inside can cause our tastes to drastically shift and we might find ourselves in need of bolder, more cheerful colors. Light blues, greens, and purples are on their way out. This also includes shades like millennial pink – this trend has long overstayed its welcome, and for a fresher look, consider hues like yellows or muted green tones, which can work quite well across a range of design styles.

2. Popcorn Ceilings

Popcorn ceilings have certainly had their fair share of time spent in the spotlight, and for several reasons. For one, these ceilings are incredibly cost-efficient and normally very easy to apply and mass produce. However, since they’re often found in older buildings and homes, they also tend to contain asbestos, which is an extremely hazardous material. Between that and the status quo shifting to them seeming tacky, it’s best to leave this trend behind permanently.

3. Nautical Motifs

Everyone loves going to the beach, but let’s be honest – seashells, anchors, and sailor’s rope belong on the actual beach, not your living room or guest bathroom! Plus, pairing your blues with whites leaves you fairly limited with what you can add in terms of furniture and décor. That said, you can still achieve beachy vibes without being too obvious by picking a color palette inspired by your surroundings.

4. Gray Overload

In the early 2000s, granite gray saw a massive surge in popularity, and it was used most frequently in kitchen spaces and to this day remains a surprisingly popular choice. Other similar shades including pewter and charcoal have seen almost just as much use. However, too much gray tends to be overwhelming, and today, accents tend to be much more effective.

In any case, what you decide to do with your home’s interior is ultimately up to you – however, being mindful of which trends are outdated and untimely will serve you well. Don’t hesitate to consult with a team of professional painters if you have any questions or concerns; they’ll be able to provide expert insight and even guarantee spectacular results if a change is in order!
